and now for business!

Up and running with almost 50,000 users now, Vampires the Darkside is keeping us BUSY! and we're loving it.
New implementations have happened for helping out the new/younger level vamps and low and behold this has
turned into a business. The business name was officially registered yesterday and `allhopeislost, myself
and a couple of overseas (Scotland and South Africa) geniuses are now proud owners of Kwaai Games Limited!

more news will follow as I am able to release it. I'm hoping `allhopeislost has time to put his art for the game together for a lovely dA sneakpeek very soon, but he's too busy with working on the game it seems.

You know, I am absolutely meant to be in an online community environment and now I get to play with vampires all day! I'm sure one of our future games will include FAIRIES. Karma works like that and I've been bitching about NON evil fairieieieis forever!

Anyway, looks like dA prepared me for all the elements that I am now utilizing in my new business/position- who knew... Only this time, I don't have to worry about being blindsided by the misfiring big guns, because I am one.

`allhopeislost, *FXMorph, and myself began a journey some time ago with a group of developers for an online game that will be hosted on facebook and (my guess)- likely myspace. This is turning into something that I've always dreamed of but can't really go into detail just yet. HOWEVER... let me say that if you play anything on facebook and happen to like vampires and or dark art, this is the game for you. AHiL has rocked the socks of many with his interface design and *FXMorph has kicked some serious ass on the "power" graphics in the game.

Changed my mind!››

I wasn't going to write a journal about the art site, Artician but seeing as how it's the topic of notes, emails and journals, and where I've been hanging out, I changed my mind.

I took a break from here, I needed it. I thought I could shake off the shit that hit the fan in January but alas, that never happened. I came back, wasn't inspired here and if you didn't know, when you once were staff and then you aren't, regardless of the reason or LACK thereof of being let go- the other $taff members don't really talk to you because you're out of the clan, which leaves a very odd feeling in the pit of your stomach. Now there are a few exceptions to that rule and I won't point them out because they don't need to feel weird about keeping in touch with me.

So where does that leave me? It leaves me loving the members of this community that I met and grew close to, and feeling like a total misplaced artist. As luck would have it, I found out about Artician. I didn't even know how to pronounce it 3 days ago. I didn't know until today that it's run by 3 unpaid developers. It's obviously in beta, so it's buggy and I had a huge problem finding my way around at first. Then I remembered my first days on dA. pffffft. At least here I had someone personally greet me in the forum and on my page to throw me a line.

Bottom line, I like it there and I love the people here. Artician is NOT a dA replacement. In fact, in my opinon it definitely doesn't cater to the people who love all the aspects of dA. I don't think they are looking for the dA typical 20 and under crowd. (And that isn't a slam, it's the truth.) So I'm hanging out, enjoying those who have come over to say hey and loving meeting other serious artists. There are plenty of things to see fleshed out, fixed and such... did I mention it's THREE GUYS- barely sleeping and coding their brains out? and no one can argue the fact that the site is gorgeous.

So those of you with your panties in a wad, chill out. It's another art site with a portfolio exposure opportunity. I do think it's funny that they've made such a bang though for as small as they are. I believe they will prevail with their target market and will achieve success in their own right in their own way. No one is saying they're leaving and never coming back to dA to my knowledge... well-- unless you're this guy... [link]

Let me say- I've never even spoken to =Dancing-Naked in my life, and she sent this gorgeous print to me and one to AHiL as well. How fucking sweet is that? Some people just have lights that must shine. *smiles*

You guys are super sweet and we're doing pretty good over here. The kiddo has had her license for 3 days and she is driving us completely nuts. I hear it only lasts a week or so, but ... so far, we've had to reestablish who the parents are and who the CHILD is.

....and I must say, Jesse is getting good at this stuff. Helps that he's raised his siblings (practically) but the whole balance of him having been here a year and getting to know her and vice versa has been a joy to watch. He is a gem, and they are beautiful together, when they aren't having a vocal- (civil) throw down. ha ha haaaaaaa

I can't even imagine what must be going through the mind of ^JunkbyJen and her family. After years of remission, her cancer has returned with a vengeance and she is to have major surgery to try to rid herself of this ugly disease once again. Please show her some love when you can. All the positive thoughts you can muster her way are appreciated. We love you Jen.

Anyone dealing with this knows how hard it is. I know, first hand. My mother is a survivor and my dad was just diagnosed last month. I'm sorry for everyone who has to witness what this does to a person and their families.
